Overview of Role

We are looking for an engineering leader who is excited to join a fast-growing startup and ready to contribute to, as well as help build, a high performance team. The ideal candidate will have significant experience leading the technical efforts to bring products to market and complex systems online. Previous experience in FinTech (payments, loans, or underwriting) would be a considerable bonus. Remote friendly.


Responsibilities

As a leader of the Engineering team, you will:

  • Serve as role model and mentor, helping to coach and strengthen the technical expertise and know-how of our engineering and product community
  • Responsible for the overall development life cycle of the solution and manage complex projects with significant bottom line impact
  • Build the vision and the roadmap as to where the organization will go, what the priorities should be, creating both near-term and long-term wins
  • Work closely with Product team in developing a strategy and roadmap to provide compelling capabilities that helps us succeed in the marketplace
  • Nurture a healthy collaborative engineering culture, and provide transparency to business and technology leaders on priorities
  • Clearly and succinctly communicate the priorities and plans to the engineering team and the senior leadership team
  • Although you will not be coding, as an engineering leader we will expect that you know the craft inside and out and still carry an engineer’s passion for designing and delivering great software solutions for our customers and establishing processes and metrics that improve our efficiency and quality


Your Background and Skills

  • At least 7 years of experience in Software Engineering
  • At least 5 years of people management experience
  • A proven track record of leading development on scalable, reliable products that deliver real value to users
  • Experience mentoring and growing engineers into both management and individual contributor tracks
  • Hands-on knowledge of software engineering: languages, frameworks, techniques, and industry trends.

  • Ability to think critically about performance, scalability, and reliability of the software
